1000 Books Before Kindergarten Early Literacy Program

Fossil Ridge Public Library wants you and your child to take the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten reading challenge!

The challenge is simple: Read 1000 books with your child before he or she finishes kindergarten. Sound challenging? It really isn’t! If you read just one book a day to your child, you will read over 1000 books within three years. Up that count to three books a day, and you will complete the challenge within one year!

Every book counts, including those read by Ms. Sarah in Storytime, daycare providers, Grandma and Grandpa, and even that Green Eggs and Ham book you’ve read thirty times in the last two weeks. It still counts as thirty books!

Come to the library to pick up your 1000 Books before Kindergarten welcome bag and get started on a journey to bring you and your child closer and give your child a step towards reading success! Welcome bags are available just outside of the Children’s Department office.
