Homeschool Programs

Laser Quest in Downers Grove | Friday, 1/18 @ 10:00am | Let’s learn about mazes and play two games of laser tag. $8.50 per participant. Bring a sack lunch.  3rd grade and up.

Joliet Junior College Visitation Day | Wednesday 2/13 @ 9:00am | Presentation on what JJC has to offer followed by a tour of the campus. 15 students with their parent.        Preference will  be given to current Juniors and Seniors in High School.

Bird Investigations | Thursday 4/11 @  9:30am – 12:00pm | Let’s learn about birds: beak types, feet design, foods eaten, bird songs, and more. We will take a bird hike at Mazonia   Fishing & Wildlife and make our own feeders/houses. Snacks provided. $3.00 per person.   Limited to 20 students.

August Rush Live Broadway series performance at the Paramount Theatre in Aurora.   Wednesday, 5/1 @ 1:30pm | Limited to 30 tickets. $15.00 per person.

Writing Contest Create a tall tale with Librarian Linda and/or Librarian Larry. Give them super powers along with a crazy adventure. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place cash prizes will be awarded for grades: 4th – 7th and 8th – 12th. Contact Tammy, Homeschool  Librarian, for entry form and instructions. Stories will be publically posted for viewing. Entries are due 4/1

6:30-7:00 Pajama Story Time will take place on the 2nd Monday of the month. January 7th, February 11th, March 11th, and April 8th. Children ages 3 to 6 are invited to come hear stories and have a bedtime snack. Wear your pajamas and bring your favorite stuffed animal friend. Registration is required.  
Spend the afternoon enjoying a classic movie with your friends. Refreshments provided. Registration is not required. 1:00pm  
Boy Scouts of America– January 21st 2:00- 3:00. Since 1910, Scouting hasn’t been so much about twigs and leaves, camping or hiking as it is about the spark. The spark may be a leader’s encouraging words, achieving a merit badge for engineering or going on a high adventure rafting trip. A representative will be at

Wednesday Mornings 10:30-11:00. Lap-Sit is an interactive program for children ages birth to 24 months and their caregivers. You’ll sing songs, fingerplays, and enjoy reading time together. Registration is required, caregiver must attend with child.  
Thursdays 10:00-11:00. Toddlers and their caregivers can explore and play with different toys and sensory materials each week, develop fine and gross motor skills, as well as social interaction and language skills. Caregivers must accompany child during program. Recommend for ages birth-four years. Registration required
